Last Updated: October 30, 2026 (Enshrouded 1.0, Hotfix 1.0.0.3)

Enshrouded 1.0 is the full release Keen Games shipped on October 15, 2026, ending more than two and a half years of Early Access with a simultaneous PC and PS5 launch. It closes Embervale’s main storyline, opens a two-layer endgame biome, raises every progression cap, and quietly reworks how bases, spells, and builds play. Here is everything the 1.0 update actually changes.

What is Enshrouded 1.0 and when did it come out?

Enshrouded 1.0 released on October 15, 2026, taking the game out of Early Access — which had run since January 24, 2024 — on PC and PS5 the same day. Keen Games followed launch with a rapid patch cadence: Hotfixes 1.0.0.1 and 1.0.0.2 landed on October 16, and Hotfix 1.0.0.3 arrived on October 21. The game earned Steam Deck Verified status on October 23, 2026, and an Xbox Series X|S version is planned for 2027. One caveat for co-op groups: crossplay between PC and PS5 was reportedly not available at launch, according to server-host coverage.

How does the Enshrouded 1.0 story end?

Update 1.0.0.0 concludes the main storyline — in Keen Games’ own words from the release changelog, “With update 1.0.0.0, the story of Embervale is concluded - for now.” The finale funnels you into the new endgame biome, where the last quest chain, “Cinders Of The End,” reportedly issued by the new NPC Loraine Crim, culminates in a fight against Vorgoth at The Ancient Citadel. According to community write-ups of the ending, you share a final moment with the Flame, an illustrated narration plays out, and the game signs off with a “QUEST COMPLETED!” screen. Beating Vorgoth also flips the last progression switch in the game: Flame Level 11.

What is Cinder’s Cradle?

Cinder’s Cradle is the new endgame biome added north of Veilwater Basin, and it is stacked in two layers: a lava-scarred waste below and ancient floating islands above, connected by creeping Shroud vines. Reaching the upper layer is the endgame climb, and the final boss waits at its summit.

Version 1.0 also densifies the older map: the edges of Springlands, Blackmire, and Kindlewastes gained new areas and new Shroud Roots, and doors that had stayed sealed for years across older regions finally open as the main story progresses.

What new enemies and dungeons does 1.0 add?

The update introduces a new hostile faction with 14 new enemy types — 37 once you count variants — plus two new Hollow Halls dungeons to clear.

Addition Where Notes
14 new enemies (37 with variants) Cinder’s Cradle and the new edge zones A brand-new hostile faction
New Hollow Halls dungeon Albaneve Summits Fresh underground challenge
New Hollow Halls dungeon Veilwater Basin Hidden underwater

One combat note matters for planning: enemies now heal up once they break off from combat, so a disengaged fight resets — commit to the kill or restart cleanly.

Who is Loraine Crim?

Loraine Crim, the Ancient Researcher, is the new survivor NPC added in 1.0, focused on ancient knowledge and recipes. According to community coverage, she issues the final “Cinders Of The End” quest chain and crafts the Vorgoth’s Soulbound legendary armor set, which makes her the most important late-game hire in your base.

What are the new level and Flame caps in 1.0?

Version 1.0 raises the player level cap to 50 and gear to item level 55, and adds a final Flame Level 11 that unlocks when you defeat Vorgoth. The previous cap was level 45, set by Update 8, so returning characters have five fresh levels of campaign to chew through.

Progression cap Value in 1.0 How you reach it
Player level 50 Leveling through the finished campaign and endgame
Gear level 55 Endgame crafting and drops
Flame Level 11 (new final tier) Defeat Vorgoth; unlocks Shroud Removal and raises the Flame Altar limit from 15 to 16

Shroud Removal deserves its own highlight: it finally lets you clear the fog itself, though the deadliest red Shroud zones remain out of bounds.

Which new spells and skills came with 1.0?

Nine new spells headline the magic rework, backed by 22 Tier 7 Eternal spells and fresh skill lines for mage and ranger builds.

Spell Spell Spell
Mana Drain Entangle Pillar of Flames
Blizzard Ball Lightning Summon Fire Totem
Summon Ice Totem Summon Shock Totem Summon Hollow Skeleton

Beyond the list, Eternal spells and arrows can now be upgraded with perks, and the wand gained a heavy attack that pierces and interrupts plus aerial and evasion attack options. New skills landed too: mages picked up Advanced Necromancy, Totem Mastery, and Blast and Cast, while rangers added Puncture, Barrage, and Survival Instinct.

What is Sparkworks?

Sparkworks is 1.0’s new logic and contraption system: levers, pressure plates, and switches now drive automated lights, doors, traps, and spawner encounters in your builds. Keen Games previewed the system in a dedicated article on October 8, 2026, pitching it as a way to turn static bases into playable adventure maps — dungeon entrances, puzzle rooms, and trap gauntlets are all buildable now.

What quality-of-life and technical changes are in 1.0?

The update polishes both the daily grind and the engine underneath it.

Change What it means in practice
Chests upgrade in place No more rebuilding storage every tier
Nameable map markers and chests Wayfinding across the roughly 10×10 km world actually scales
Bait matched to fish tier Fishing rewards deliberate bait choices
Enemies heal when disengaged Fights are commit-or-reset
Shroud time extenders nerfed; more hourglass capsules Short trips beat long dives
New brick renderer, per-zone lighting and atmosphere, HDR support Visual uplift plus performance and memory optimizations
Full voice acting (English, German, Mandarin) All lore text and major crafting/quest NPCs are voiced, with playlist playback

What should returning players know before launching 1.0?

Three things: your skill tree has been reset, Early Access players have a reward waiting, and old worlds carry over. The official changelog puts the first point bluntly — “your skill tree has been reset, hopefully for the last time” — so plan your build before spending points, and consider a fresh respec at your Flame Altar. Early Access players can claim their 1.0 reward from the pause menu; Hotfix 1.0.0.3 fixed cases where that claim failed. And you do not need to abandon your world: 1.0 converts old saves to the new format on first load and keeps a backup of the original file. If you are starting over entirely, the Enshrouded beginner guide covers the optimal opening hours.
